One pulls me over because I don’t have my bike light on (it’s dead, and come on, it’s Portland— people ride bikes without lights all the fucking time).
Pig #1 asks me for my ID. I ask him why he’s stopping me and why he wants to see…
Goddammit Portland. Fucking cops out of control. Ugh, it’s shameful that such a “progressive” place (which it really is in many ways) is so fucking backwards when it comes to cops and race. Ugh, it’s shameful that a place I take such pride in as my home is flawed in this way.
Please stop talking about whether Ashkenazim are white or not. Please stop talking about whether antisemitism is racist or not. It is offensive for someone not part of a group to define the identity of members belonging to that group. It is offensive for someone not part of a group to define how members belonging to that group experience oppression.
Ugh, goddammit. There’s a lot I’d like to say, but I’m too fucking irritated to get it out clearly. I’m Ashkenazi, I consider myself white - I’m perfectly aware, however, that there are a lot of people out there who do not consider me white. Those people are antisemites and they are racist, and they are unfortunately not all that uncommon. It’s irritating as hell getting shit from other minorities for not being oppressed ‘enough’, or (as I’ve seen a number of times) getting shit for apparently being the most privileged type of white person that exists.
